The Q and Not U solution to the post-modernist predicament

Often the phrase "nothing new under the sun" is thrown around, and living in JHB, South Africa I have never found much reason to take opposition to it. Q and Not U shattered my perception this past Friday. Their fresh and urgent sound slapped me up as I watched them, dancing frantically; my ears were getting the aural equivalent of a mouthwash and were loving it.

Hey boys and girls! At the moment I am trying to let South African bands be reviewed in the METALHAMMER, KERRANG, ROCKSOUND and TERRORISER magazines. As you all know it is very difficult for bands to survive in the good old SA. So what I am trying now is to set up relations between SA and these magazines.

Friday the 13th of August, 2004 will see South Africa’s dirty, coffin rock-n-rollers, The SlashDogs making their mark in the history books of South Africa.
It has been about 15 years since the last vinyl record was released by a South African rock band, and although many people today don’t own a record player, and some don’t even know what a vinyl record is, there is a huge vinyl resurgence going on in the rest of the world and even now in South Africa.
