PUNK ROCKING BEATS!The Singles Review: Pet Flyz - "Motive for Breathing (2002)"
Sunday, May 19, 2002 - 12:22 PM
Pet Flyz have gone through a transformation in their line up loosing both long-time bassist and drummer in the process. In this rebirth, it was only natural for a revolution to take place in there music.Pet Flyz have been on top of their game for a long time, leading the way in South African punk rock with their solid first release in 2000 (Here Goes Everything) Being a highly influential band across the country Pet Flyz have been the creative influence that has placed South African Punk Rock into the limelight over the last years. Their recording comes at a crucial time, as many South African bands have become stagnant in influences and creativity. Pet Flyz' awaited album gives the fans of South African Punk Rock a new "Motive for Breathing".

bring on da drumms and bass
Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 07:26 AM
I need a good solid drummer and bassist to help me in starting my ideal band.Sound will be very experimental but along the lines of ska, reggae, funk, rap, hip-hop Punk.
Really funky fun stuff (sublime stylie) that any-one can enjoy.
should enjoy the occasional herbal intake and be in the Cape Town area. No heavy auditions, just come and Jam

The Durban scene is exploding
Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 01:46 AM
I've been reading around this site lately and in mags like blunt and it just occurred to me that the Durban scene is exploding. There are bands popping up everywhere and everyday I hear or read about a new Durban band coming through the woodworks or trying to get formed.Posted by matt

Finally, we got this $%^%$@^ recording done!RECORDING FINISHED!
We're stoked to announce that the recording of our new 13 track album ("Motive For Breathing") is finally finished! This is a huge relief, since this album's been more than a year in the making. We finished it a while back, on the 6th of May.

Bassist needed (Durban)
Tuesday, May 14, 2002 - 08:48 AM
So here's the deal, a rather infamous Durban punk rock collective is in search for a bassist. Not much experience is needed but we'll take what we can get. However, we don't want a soft *****, we need someone into boozing, partying, not giving a damn and that will add to our overall sound. Drop me an e-mail at curvball69@hotmail.com and we can arrange to meet, drinks will be on you!Posted by CurvBall

GIG AT THE PURPLE TURTLE
Tuesday, May 14, 2002 - 12:27 AM
On Saturday there was an increased flow of punk and whitetrash in the Els Park area around The Purple Turtle the venue for an awesome show. The first band to take the stage was nufnikuf (read it backwards losers). They were pretty good, the best part coming from the cover of "Nkalagata", yes the kwaito hit from Mandoza.Posted by Shy Coward
