What the Protesters in Genoa Want

Monday, July 23, 2001 - 12:37 AM

Red Side - International
(written by Richard)
Most news reports in South Africa, especially SABC television, keep referring to the protestors in Genoa as 'anti-globalisation' protestors. SABC TV did the same with the recent protests against the WEF meeting in Durban. But this is completely incorrect and, therefore, completely unacceptable. The movement that started in Seattle is for the democratisation of globalisation and is not anti-globalisation.

Your journalists can educated themselves by going to Z Mag http://www.zmag.org or Green Left Weekly http://www.greeleft.org.au or even, for that matter, the New York Times ...

HOG HOGGIGY HOG - NEW MUISC VIDEO - WE NEED YOU!

Friday, July 20, 2001 - 02:39 AM

SA News
We're in the process of doing a music video for John & Philippp's Song, in

one of the scenes, we need a big crowd, so we need as many people as possible

to come help us out and be in the video.

We will be shooting the scene at 13:00 on Saturday afternoon, 4 August 2001

at Studio 47, New Market Street, Cape Town (yes we know it's a rave club, but

apparently it's the best venue for the shot that we need to do). Anyway please

come along and bring as many friends as possible.

What is wrong with the G8

Thursday, July 19, 2001 - 12:55 AM

Red Side - International
A PDF file of this leaflet for you to print out and distribute is available at

http://struggle.ws/wsm/pdf/leaf/genoa.html

------

<b>G8 protests in Genoa - the anti-capitalist struggle continues</b>

Over the weekend of July 19/20/21 tends of thousands of people from all over the world will be in Genoa to protest against the G8 meeting there. Genoa will join Seattle, London, Prague and Quebec as the scene of confrontation between the forces of capitalist globalisation (neo liberalism) and those who believe other worlds are possible.
Make no mistake, in Genoa, as elsewhere two incompatible visions of the world will collide. On the one side are the G8, the most powerful governments of the planet. They are Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Great Britain, Italy, Russia and the United States. On the other are tens of thousands of ordinary people, many of them citizens of these countries.

So many foreigners think South Africa is a really big game reserve.

Tuesday, July 17, 2001 - 12:54 AM

International News
Hey everybody

I was just looking at the strung out message board to find out in my dismay

that foreigners think that everybody in south africa lives in a mud hut and

barters with cattle and dont listen to punk.

I did my little bit there by informing them about south africa's scene and

stuff. We should really get more bands to tour overseas... HEY all you rich

punk bands (ok a bit of an oxymoron) go out and show the bastards your stuff.
