An open letter to the South African Underground
Thursday, April 13, 2006 - 02:52 PM
I feel as though I need to first qualify what I mean by the ‘South African Underground’ and will try to do so as simply as possible. The South African underground is made up of individuals who are confident enough in their own opinions and creativity that they are free from the omnipresence of popular culture.Posted by Jon.Casbah

The Great Graffiti Debate
Sunday, September 19, 2004 - 04:28 PM
Graffiti: an escalating inner-city problem, or a viable outlet of expression for marginalized and frustrated urban voices? Graffiti in the City of Cape Town is becoming increasingly visible, and the focus of whether the proposed bylaws are justifiable or not is becoming a more and more heated debate.Posted by guns&diamonds

The origin of punk?
Thursday, September 09, 2004 - 02:36 PM
Punk is a real thing, but not as we have come to know it. Punk is actually the government code name for a secret nerve agent that they were developing in the late 1960's. The idea of the agent was that it was designed as a weapon, and it would be used to kill people, as that is what weapons are designed for (ie. to kill people).Posted by ck

I WANT MORE!
Wednesday, September 08, 2004 - 10:46 AM
Hi corepunkers.Alright, time to take a stand. While rummaging through some old shoeboxes the other day, I found a veritable TREASURE TROVE of old S.A. punk scene stuff: Old crossing.point flyers, a LEEK A.T.B.U press release fyler for their "Kicking back the years" album, a Still Thinking button badge and a bunch of Croakroom records zines and things.

You don’t count in the South-African music scene
Friday, September 03, 2004 - 07:34 AM
Hey lets say you are a band. You are being looked down on since your songs are actually melodic a.k.a. emo/pop rock. So you don’t count in the South-African music scene cause you don’t scream loud enough, and you are not scary and you don’t make a lot of noise. So what do you think is the best way to approach this?Posted by ties_that_bind_us

CONCERN ABOUT THE MASSES
Tuesday, August 31, 2004 - 03:08 PM
As an avid member of the punkcore website I'm concerned at how few and far between posts are these days. People only seem to be one sentence replying and making the odd comment here or there in the shoutbox.Posted by jonh

punk you
Friday, August 13, 2004 - 10:51 AM
The other day I watched a movie. Apart from it being hell-cool and one of the best horror films i've seen in a while, it made me think a lot about kids these days. The film was 'Dawn of the Dead', a remake of a seventies film of the same name.Posted by ilmemory
