Its always been about the show's. There is one thing that has pulled us together, often without much pretence or real requirements the gigs. As the scene seems to get bigger, taste and ideology have become more and more diverse. Show and events seem in some way to bring these diverse ideas together momentarily.

This past friday at Liebrant Van Die Kerk Hall in Table View the Thumbs Up Gig started. The gig was to celebrate the opening of school holidays and to give five semi uknown bands a boost in the punk rock and metal scene.

Well, two of the members of Sheep Down (Marcel and Paul) Have recently opened their own studio in Durban North, and are having the grand opening party on the 3rd of March 2006, at the Winston Pub.

First of all wil ek net geluk sê aan die kick ass band Omgekeer wat 'n helluva set gespeel het! Tweedens het almal nadat Trompie gewen het geskree "Omgekeer, Omgekeer,Omgekeer.." wat vir my net een ding sê, dat Rockspaaider een moerse klug was! No doubt het Trompie goed gespeel, maar het hulle nie al hulle kans gehad nie?
Is die hele idee van die kompetiesie nie om up-and-coming bands te bevorder nie?

And so, once again we win!!! The Rockspaaider semi's to be more precise. Unfortuantely the school gets the money (R5000), but at least we get a demo... The competition was tight, but we go through to the finals at Aardklop in Potjchefstroom and if we win our school gets R20 000, we get a music video and a 8 track CD.

Well for anyone who was at the show at Mercury on Monday night, we hope you had a good time, it sure looked like it, we definately had a lot of fun playing, although Brett (vocals & bass) and Steven (vocals) seemed to be having a bit of trouble walking\speaking\thinking straight at about 2am after being force fed a bottle of cheap vodka by Carly (thanks Pgirl, you rock!) and ended up dancing arm in arm to the tune of Guns & Roses - Paradise City!

Hallo almal! Sedert hierdie 'n web werf is vir alle punkers, sal ek maar in Engels die boodskap verder voer! We are EXTREMELY gratefull for the very few people who pitched for the really badly advertised 'Woordfees', but we won the Rock section, landing ourselfs a very pretty peny! R10 000!!

Often the phrase "nothing new under the sun" is thrown around, and living in JHB, South Africa I have never found much reason to take opposition to it. Q and Not U shattered my perception this past Friday. Their fresh and urgent sound slapped me up as I watched them, dancing frantically; my ears were getting the aural equivalent of a mouthwash and were loving it.

I just wanted to thank all those people who came to the BandIT battle of the bands. Your support was greatly appreciated its cool to see people coming to support up and coming bands rather than missioning off to Boogaloos to watch bands that everyone has seen before.
